HOLY ANGELS CATHOLIC SCHOOL
Math Club
The math club begins in early September and ends with the IMSA math competition in March. Our meetings are on Mondays after school for approximately one hour. Seventh and eighth grade students are grouped together to solve challenging math problems. Most of the competition problems involve Algebra and Geometry, so formulas and process are taught in Math Club. Members are required to keep an open mind and to think outside the box. We have attended the Marmion and IMSA math competitions yearly. The math teams enjoy these! We also compete in three national competitions: AMC 8, ILML, AMC Algebra 1. The goals of the Math Club are the following:
-
To encourage interest and proficiency in mathematics
-
To develop awareness of the relevance of mathematics to everyday life
-
To recognize achievement
-
To have FUN
